Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain extension is the single TLD planned for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. Initially, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to book john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already taken third-level domains remained running.

You will have the opportunity to change the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an existing domain to our company if you obtain its EPP transfer key from the present domain service provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been done. There are no particular stipulations on who can obtain a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the idea behind its establishment alive, the Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
